de laatste koekjes- the last Cookies

 

 Ik ben nog steeds van plan het volledige 'Knit.Sock.Love'-boek van Cookie A uit te breien. Juni was gereserveerd voor Wedge, maar toen is het me niet gelukt.
I still have the strong intention to knit through the complete 'Knit.Sock.Love'-boek by Cookie A. June was reserved to do Wedge, but I did not make it then.

Gelukkig kan je een inhaalpoging doen, en op de Ravelry groep kan je ze dan posten als 'traag gebakken'. Bij mij is het eerder een misbaksel. Het patroon bestaat uit verkorte rijen, en dan betekent veel draaien en keren, en tellen. Niet direct mijn sterkste punt. En ik ben niet zo gelukkig met dit zelfstrepend garen in dit patroon. Uittrekken dus.
Fortunately you get a second chance in the 'slow baked' finishing group on Ravelry. I tried this pattern with a selfstriping yarn, and I was not so happy with the outcome. So I frogged this one.

 Juli is de maand om dit patroon te breien, Sake. Vééél kabels, een patroon waar je een heel gedetailleerd telschema bij nodig hebt.
July is 'Sake' month. For this pattern you have to consult a big and detailled chart, not exactly a mindless sock to knit.

 

Ik maak het me 'gemakkelijk' en begin de sok in een neutrale effen crème kleur. Dan zie ik toch een beetje beter wat ik aan het doen ben. Dat klaar zien, dat gaat een beetje achteruit de laatste tijd, vooral bij avondschemering. Misschien toch maar eens een leesbril aanschaffen?

To better see the stitches I have started these in a neutral cream. I love cables in cream, and I do need to carefully look at what I am doing. Seeing tiny stitches has become more difficult the last time, at dusk I have to put this sock away.  Maybe I am at this age where I need to consider reading glasses?

En dan beginnen de Olympische spelen, ook niet echt het moment voor ingewikkelde kabelsokken. Nieuwe poging voor Wedge dan maar? Ik 'begrijp' het patroon al wat beter, maar deze sokkenwol met alpaca van Stormopzolder is wat dikker dan standaard, en mijn sok wordt veel te groot, en vooral veel te warm...poging 2 wordt ook uitgetrokken.
The start of the Olympics is not really the time to knit chart heavy cable socks. Maybe I can try Wedge again? I 'get' the pattern a bit better, but the yarn I am using now is a heavy fingering alpaca woolblend, so this socks is getting to big, too warm, and I am running out of yarn.

Augustus is de maand voor German stockings, maar met én Olympische spelen, én 9-jarig neefje te logeren is het nu nog minder het moment voor een ingewikkelde kniesok.
The pattern for August is German stockings, but I still want to watch the Olympics, and I also have my 9 year old nephew staying over, so now is even less the time to knit complicated kneesocks.

 

We zullen dan maar simpele babymutsjes breien...

There are a few more newborn babies in my neighbourhood, and before you know it it will be winter and they will need warm hats... 

Ik ben nog steeds van plan om alle Cookie sokken te breien uit het boek, German Stockings is de laatste en dan heb ik 19 paar gebreid.  En daarna brei ik efkes geen sokken meer! Dat komt goed uit, want het ziet ernaar uit dat  Cookie A ook nieuwe paden wil bewandelen...

I am still determined to knit all socks from the book, but I am also convinced that after that, I won't be knitting socks for a while. So, 3 more pairs, and then I am finished. Just in time for the next challenge Cookie A has up her sleeve...
